Proctor Mother: Nails Found In Son’s Halloween Candy Bar
Duluth Police Dept. Is Investigating
Duluth police are investigating after a woman says she found small nails in a candy bar her son got from Fall Fest at Bayview Elementary.
Candy Ellestad, of Proctor, told FOX 21 Tuesday the chocolate bar was meant for her son, but when he didn’t eat it, she did, and what happened next was more than just chocolate.
“I was shocked. I was scared. I really had no idea what was in my mouth. I bit down on the one side and all I could feel was the metal and I just kept pulling pin after pin out of my mouth,” Ellestad said.
The Duluth Police Department was reminding parents on this Halloween to inspect their children’s candy very carefully after trick or treating.
As for Ellestad, she says she will be taking that advice seriously and so will her 10-year-old son, Zack.
“I’ll look for holes or if it’s like in a little box that can be opened and easily put together,” said Zack Ellestad.
Ellestad says there were no holes in the packaging of the candy bar she at, leaving so many unanswered questions.
Her doctor gave her the all clear after getting checked out.
Duluth police don’t have any solid leads because multiple bags were mixed together to give out at Fall Fest.
Here’s the official press release from the department:
