Duluth Superior Community Foundation Seeks to Close Opportunity Gap for Children
There are more than 1,000 children living in poverty in Superior, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
SUPERIOR, Wisc. – Community members in Superior gathered on Monday to talk about the opportunity gap that underprivileged children face in the Twin Ports. The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation hosted the Opportunity Rising dinner, and discussed ways to better help children in poverty have the same chances in life as their peers.
“Every child deserves to have opportunities that enrich their lives. Ultimately, as they grow and have experiences that are common with all the other children in the community, they’re much more able to become part of the fabric of the community.”
According to U.S. Census Bureau, more than 1,000 children in Superior live in poverty. The campaign seeks to connect kids to services, including education, transportation, mentoring, and employment.
