Dog Dropped Off at Duluth Animal Hospital With Severe Injuries
Police Say Someone May Have Tried Slitting Dog's Throat
DULUTH, Minn.-At about 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, police responded to the Waters Edge Animal Hospital on a report of a severely injured pit bull-mix that had been dropped off.
The woman who dropped the dog off, who was in her 20s with blond hair, said the dog was found on Highway 53 by Miller Hill Mall and it had been hit by a car.
“The injuries to the dog were not consistent with being hit by a vehicle, but were consistent with being in a fight with another animal most likely another dog,” the police said in a statement. “It also appears that someone may have tried to slit the dogs throat in an attempt to kill it.”
The vehicle for the person who dropped off the dog, is being described as a small dark colored four-door sedan. The party who dropped the dog off did not provide information about who they were.
The dog was eventually transported to a local veterinarian where surgery was performed to repair the dog’s injuries.
Anyone who knows how this dog sustained these injuries is asked to call Duluth Animal Control at 218-723-3259.
