UMD’s Trapper Ward Nominated for National Award
Ward is nominated for the 2018 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
DULUTH, Minn. – This week it was announced that UMD football player Trapper Ward has been nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his volunteer work in the local community, specifically with Mentor Duluth.
Ward has been involved with the organization for a year and a half where he serves as a mentor for a local teenage boy and the co–mentor for a young girl along with his girlfriend. Ward says he’s honored to be nominated, but that’s not why he got involved in mentoring.
“I’ve been fortunate enough that I got to play football here. I wanted to find something I could do to help out the community and I was able to find Mentor Duluth and thought that would be a good option to help a kid out in the community. Being able to bring the kids to the game and seeing them after the game…Kaelie thinks she’s my biggest fan, which honestly she probably is. It’s always an awesome opportunity to see them after a game and have them cheer me on the sideline,” said Ward.
