Chris Jensen Cited in Resident’s Death

The Nurses Were CPR Certified

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Health has released a report citing evidence of neglect by nursing staff at the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center.

According to the report nursing staff failed to perform CPR on a resident who was found unresponsive in their room and later died.

The resident had a provider order for life sustaining treatment signed by their physician and the resident, which indicated the resident requested CPR if they had no pulse or respirations.

All four nurses that responded to the incident had current certification in CPR.

Due to confidentiality concerns the report does not identify the resident or the date of passing.

A statement from Amy Porter, Executive Director, at the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center read:

“We are committed to providing patient-centered care to our residents in a comfortable and respectful environment. At all times, the health, safety and privacy of our residents and staff are our first priority. We are unable to comment further on matters related to our staff or residents due to confidentiality.”
