BCA Releases Names of Three Dead in Northern Minnesota

The Suspect was Found Dead in the Vehicle

UPDATE: Authorities have identified two officers involved in a northern Minnesota incident in which three people died of gunshots.

The Department of Public Safety says Hubbard County Deputy Seth Kuhn fired his gun during the incident in Nevis, and Deputy Erick Rypkema was struck by a bullet fired by 34-year-old Bryce Bellomo.

Authorities say Bellomo killed himself in the Thursday incident. Rypkema survived.

Few details have been released. The sheriff’s office says deputies responding to a shooting found a woman dead outside a home. Deputies pursued Bellomo, who shot at them and later was found dead of suicide in a vehicle. Another person who was shot also was in the car.

The other two dead were identified as 40-year-old Heidi Pierce and 37-year-old Candi Goochey, both of Akeley. Their deaths are ruled a homicide.


NEVIS, Minn. – Authorities have released the names of three people who died of gunshots during an incident in northern Minnesota last week.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office says 40-year-old Heidi Eve Pierce and 37-year-old Candi Cheryl Goochey, both of Akeley, died from a gunshot wound. Their deaths were ruled a homicide.

Authorities say 34-year-old Bryce Anthony Bellomo of Nevis shot and killed himself.

The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responding to a shooting in Nevis on Thursday found a woman dead outside a home. Deputies pursued the suspect, who shot at deputies and struck one of them. The deputy survived.

The suspect was later found dead in the vehicle. Another person who was shot was also in the car.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
