Prep Softball: Spartans, Hunters Score in Bunches at Home

The Superior and Duluth Denfeld softball teams abused their scoreboards Thursday afternoon.

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Superior softball team made quick work of Eau Claire as they won in five innings 10-0 Thursday afternoon at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

UMD commit Mady Stariha earned the shutout win on the mound for the Spartans, throwing a no-hitter while striking out 10 batters. Superior would fall 5-4 in the second game of the doubleheader.

In other prep softball action, Duluth Denfeld jumped out to a big lead early against Duluth East, but the Greyhounds would get into a groove, sending the game to extras. But in the end, the Hunters hung on for the high-scoring win 15-13 in eight innings.
