Eveleth-Gilbert and Virginia School Districts’ Referendum Passes
The Eveleth-Gilbert and Virginia referendum has passed, which will allow the two districts to combine their high schools, for which a brand new high school will be built, while also building two new elementary schools.
The construction on the new high school is set to begin in 2020 and will take two years to build. It will be built in a neutral location.
Back in February, the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board voted to recommend dedicating about $100 million toward the projects.
Iron Range taxpayers and the state will be responsible for another $80 million.
