Natural Resources Research Institute (NRRI) Opens Doors to Community
Staff show important research being done to help future generations of Minnesotans
HERMANTOWN, Minn. – Minnesota’s Natural Resources Research Institute (NRRI) is right on Highway 53 in Hermantown.
Recently, they opened their doors for community tours.
Staff showed off all the work they’ve been doing, like treating biomass with heat to create high-value carbon products like solid and liquid fuels.
They say their work will help future generations of Minnesotans.
“We have some very rich mineral resources, we have rich timber resources, we have very rich water resources,” said Rolf Weberg, the NRRI Executive Director. “How do we use these in a way that shows good stewardship and gives us good opportunities to have a vibrant economy?”
They hope the open house will help people recognize the important research being done at the institute.
