Third Suspect Charged in Fatal West Duluth Shooting

Bail was set at $100,000

DULUTH, Minn. – A third person has been formally charged in connection to last week’s fatal West Duluth shooting.

Amber Rose Louise Forrest, 29, has been charged with one count of Aiding An Offender as an accomplice after the fact.

According to the criminal complaint, Forrest admitted to taking a backpack and two BB guns from the residence of Christopher Boder and James Michael Peterson on September 24.

The complaint sates Forrest asked authorities if she would be able to collect some of her personal property from the residence at which time she was told she could not because the residence was involved in a current investigation.

After obtaining a second search warrant for the residence authorities noted items were missing including a backpack and two BB guns. Authorities also noted a partially opened second floor window with railing lattice placed against the window.

According to the complaint, when investigators asked Forrest about the missing backpack and BB guns she admitted to climbing in the window and using the backpack to collect her clothing items but denied any knowledge of the BB guns.

The complaint says Forrest agreed to allow law enforcement to download her phone contents which upon review showed text messages indicating she was in possession of two BB guns and was trying to sell them.

According to the complaint, Forrest is the significant other of James Michael Peterson.

The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office would not confirm is Forrest is the female witness who was trying to purchase methamphetamine at the time 33-year-old Timothy Nelson was shot and killed in his truck.

Peterson and Boder are both facing charges of Second-Degree Aiding and Abetting Murder for the murder of Timothy Nelson.

Nelson was found in his truck on September 22 with a gunshot wound to his abdomen near the 300 Block of North 62nd Avenue West.

Peterson and Boder are being held on $750,000 bail. Forrest’s bail was set at $100,000.
