Parks and Recreation Hosts Snowshoe Hike on Piedmont Trail

They explained that using snowshoes in the winter instead of just hiking keeps the trail groomed for all kinds of other activities such as fat tire biking.

DULUTH, Minn. – The city of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department hosted a snowshoe hike starting from the Piedmont Trailhead on Sunday.

Parks and Recreation wanted to show people a different trail they might not have visited yet.

They explained that using snowshoes in the winter instead of just hiking keeps the trail groomed for all kinds of other activities such as fat tire biking.

They even supplied the snowshoes for the participants.

The Piedmont Trail is a multi-use popular trail for all kinds of activities.

“It’s fun just to get people out a lot of times in winter it’s easy to stay inside it’s easy to not be as active as you would be in better weather. But encouraging people to take the steps to get out and try something try something active get outside get outdoors especially in the winter is a lot of fun,” said Sam Werle, a recreation specialist at Duluth Parks and Recreation.
