SUPERIOR, Wis. – While nationwide it’s a big concern, local prom and bridal dress shops are not necessarily facing the impact of the virus.
Local stores such as Angie’s Close in Superior are experiencing good business amidst the illness. The business says it does not buy dresses from factories from China. Rather, it buys from locals on consignment.
“A lot of the materials are not what I take in the store, some of them are just not quality made so I really haven’t seen an impact on my business as a whole right now,” said Angie Kiminski, owner of Angie’s Closet.
The American Bridal and Prom Industry Association states that about 80 percent of western style wedding dresses are made in China.
