UMD Men’s Hockey Picked to Finish Third in NCHC Preseason Coaches Poll
The Bulldogs were picked to finish 3rd, behind North Dakota and Denver, who were first and second, respectively.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – We are just over a week away from the start of the NCHC season. The UMD men’s hockey team will be heading to the pod in Omaha, Nebraska to get things started off. But first, let’s check out the conference’s preseason coaches poll which was released Monday.
The Bulldogs were picked to finish 3rd, behind North Dakota and Denver, who were first and second, respectively. The Fighting Hawks took home 27 of the 28 first-place votes, although the preseason favorite has not won the Penrose Cup since 2015.
UMD finished second in the NCHC last season, winning their last five games before college athletics were shutdown. They will open the season in the pod on December 2nd against Denver.
