Updated COVID-19 Numbers: Monday, December 21
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota health officials reported 1,998 new cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota Monday morning bringing the total confirmed COVID cases to 399,311 in the state.
Health officials also reported 22 news deaths bringing the death total to 4,872 in Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota Department of Health website, 5,232,347 tests have been completed to date.
There are 373,301 patients who no longer require isolation.
So far, 20,629 patients have required hospitalization and 4,424 cases have been hospitalized in ICU.

Carlton: 2,499 – 33 deaths
Cook: 100
Itasca: 2,600 – 32 deaths
Koochiching: 531 – 8 deaths
Lake: 522 – 14 deaths
St. Louis: 11,885 – 179 deaths
Ashland: 943 – 14 deaths
Bayfield: 879 – 16 deaths
Douglas: 2,876 – 16 deaths
Iron: 406 – 10 deaths
Sawyer: 1,127 – 10 deaths
Gogebic: 701 – 13 deaths
As of Monday morning, Wisconsin health officials reported 457,177 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services also reported 4,417 deaths.
Health officials say the real number of Minnesotans infected with the coronavirus is likely much higher because most people did not originally qualify for testing, and studies suggest that people can be infected without feeling sick.
