Updated COVID-19 Numbers: Thursday, January 7

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota health officials reported 2,004 new cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota on Thursday morning bringing the total confirmed COVID cases to 429,570 in the state.

Health officials also reported 44 news deaths bringing the death total to 5,572 in Minnesota.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health website, 5,803,829 tests have been completed to date.

There are 408,510 patients who no longer require isolation.

So far, 22,541 patients have required hospitalization and 4,733 cases have been hospitalized in ICU.

Cook: 109
Itasca: 2,750 – 41 deaths
Koochiching: 563 – 9 deaths
Lake: 576 – 15 deaths
St. Louis: 13,065 – 225 deaths
Ashland: 1,030 – 16 deaths
Bayfield: 949 – 18 deaths
Douglas: 3,184 – 17 deaths
Iron: 425 – 18 deaths
Sawyer: 1,262 – 12 deaths
Gogebic: 721 – 16 deaths

As of Thursday morning, Wisconsin health officials reported 494,747 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services also reported 5,039 deaths.

Health officials say the real number of Minnesotans infected with the coronavirus is likely much higher because most people did not originally qualify for testing, and studies suggest that people can be infected without feeling sick.
