Nordic Crowns Exhibit Showcases Different Cultures for International Women’s Month

DULUTH, Minn.– It’s International Women’s Month and over in downtown Duluth, one organization held an exhibit aimed at making everyone feel like a queen.

The Nordic Center on Lake Avenue held an exhibit on Nordic crowns. Artists from around the Northland made crowns of all shapes and sizes inspired by a variety of cultures.

Artists say they wanted the exhibit to not only empower women but celebrate local culture.

“What we wanted to do is kind of look at that Nordic tradition, we’re the Nordic center, but open it up. We’ve got an Ojibwa crown. We’ve got all different takes on what is a crown, what does it mean to wear a crown,” said Alison Aune, Board Member at the Nordic Center.

Those who missed the exhibit a virtual tour and other activities from the event are on the Nordic center website.
