Powerhouse Andover Awaits Grand Rapids/Greenway Girls Hockey Team in Section 7AA Final

Puck drop in Andover is set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in the section 7AA girls hockey championship.

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. – The Grand Rapids/Greenway girls hockey team got a big win on Thursday night at Forest Lake in the section 7AA semifinals after falling to the Rangers in four of their last five playoff meetings.

But now, they’ve got a date with defending state champions Andover, a team that has outscored its opponents 176-6 this season.

“We’re going to have a gameplan that takes away some of their strengths so we’re going to pull a Mike Randolph and we’re going to do a lot of trapping and try to take away some of their transition away. And in zone, we’re going to pull a Dave Esse/Courtney Olin and we’re going to tighten the box up in front of our net and block a lot of shots and be opportunistic. It helps when you have some girls on your team that can take advantage,” head coach Brad Hyduke said.

Puck drop in Andover is set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
