Vaccination Clinic Takes Place for BIPOC Community at Domiano Center
DULUTH, Minn.– Everyone 16 and older in Minnesota can now get vaccinated, and today St. Louis County Public Health officials were in downtown Duluth vaccinating the BIPOC community.
County public health officials administered 80 doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the Damiano Center. It’s part of an effort to give more vaccines to black, indigenous and other people of color in the area.
With the increase in vaccination availability, county public health officials want to make sure the shot is available to everyone in the community.
“It’s awesome to see be able to offer vaccine to anybody and everybody 16 and older. There’s a lot of excitement for it, there’s a lot of people who want to get the vaccine so it opens up all sorts of possibilities,” said Ryan Bauers, Organization Development Specialist at St. Louis County.
“I’ve been waiting for this for quite a while,” said Duc Ngyen, a 22 year old college student. “Senior year at UMD, I didn’t expect to be all online and so getting this vaccine and getting back to normal is what I really, really want.”
St. Louis County is working with community groups to plan more of these vaccination sites in the coming weeks.
