Be Better Prepared Through Minnesota’s Severe Weather Awareness Week
DULUTH, Minn.-Happening this week in Minnesota is Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Here in the Northland we are susceptible to a variety of severe weather events during the spring and summer months. The state of Minnesota is addressing these risks and how we can be better prepared in a severe weather event.
Each day this week, the Minnesota Department of Safety will cover a different aspect of severe weather and it started today with the topic of alerts and warning.
“Some of the things you’ll see this week are different notifications coming out every day with [a] select topic for each day,” said Duluth Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj.
Other topics to be addressed this week include severe thunderstorms, flooding, tornadoes, and extreme heat. The goal this week is to help keep our families, neighborhoods, and community prepared in case of an emergency.
