St. Scholastica Softball Sweeps UMAC Awards
Olivia Howe was named both Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, Grace Hadlich was named Rookie of the Year and Rilee Dawson took home Coach of the Year honors.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – After winning their 21st UMAC regular season title, the St. Scholastica softball team swept the UMAC postseason awards for the first time since 2016. Olivia Howe was named both Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, Grace Hadlich was named Rookie of the Year and Rilee Dawson took home Coach of the Year honors.
Howe ranked in the top-five in nearly all UMAC hitting and pitching categories this season. At the plate, she batted .545 with a .950 slugging percentage. Howe led the conference with 66 hits, 56 RBI and 8 home runs.
In the circle, Howe posted a 2.21 ERA with 16 wins over 136.2 innings with 130 strikeouts. Howe is the first UMAC softball player since 2012 to win multiple major awards in one season.
Hadlich batted .405 for the season, which was second on the team behind Howe. She also ended the season with a 22-game reached-base safely streak.
Dawson took home her second UMAC Coach of the Year award after winning it in 2016. Dawson led the Saints to a 32-8 record, climbing as high as 17th in the national rankings.
Haley Rosenthal, Nicole Anders, Aislind Dail and Toni Bishop joined Howe and Hadlich on the All-UMAC First Team while Wisconsin-Superior’s Tayler Kraemer also took home First Team honors. Kaela Kraemer, Tiffany Kirk and Olivia Bancroft-Hart were all honoroable mentions.
Tayler Kraemer and Bancroft-Hart were also named to the UMAC All-Defensive Team for the Yellowjackets, while Howe, Anders and Josie Fourre made the list for the Saints.
