Suspect Apprehended After Wed. Night Robbery in Superior
SUPERIOR, Wis.– Frightening moments at CVS on Tower Avenue in Superior last night after a man allegedly went into the store and robbed it while also shocking a 68 year old woman with a stun gun and robbing her to at the same site.
“Officers arrived to conduct an investigation and actually received information from another business about a possible suspect and a possible suspect vehicle,” said Superior Police Public Information Officer Bradley Jago.
Officers were dispatched at 5:45 p.m. to the CVS after a report of an armed robbery at the business. SPD officers partnered with local businesses and were able to determine who the 25-year-old suspect was through security footage where they learned the suspect also shoplifted from the Superior Walmart prior to the robbery.
Officers found his vehicle just after 9:30 p.m. in the Belknap viaduct where the driver fled and continued into Duluth where Minnesota law enforcement agencies caught him.
“This is a perfect example of why it’s important for the police to partner with the local businesses to have those contacts because like I said, within less than an hour, we had a vehicle identified that was potentially involved in this robbery,” said Jago. “And that can really be the difference between catching the suspect and not catching the suspect.”
SPD officials say the 68 year old woman who was shocked by the stun gun did not require medical attention. Charges are pending for the suspect.
