Summer Kicks Off at Spirit Mountain with Busy Memorial Day Weekend
According to resort staff, as of Friday the campgrounds were completely full for the weekend.
DULUTH, Minn.- Summer is kicking off at Spirit Mountain, set to be packed for the holiday weekend.
According to resort staff, as of Friday the campgrounds were completely full for the weekend.
They say excitement’s been building for opening day of the Adventure Park Friday, which includes the alpine coaster, mini golf, and more.
After being closed last summer, staff says they’re pumped too.
“There’s a lot of inquiries this morning at the campground office where I was at, everybody saying ‘when does the coaster open, when does everything open today?’” said Lisa Johnson, Director of Sales.
“So I think we’re gonna have a good weekend. It’s gonna be a little chilly…but we are packed solid for this weekend which is good to see,” she said.
Meanwhile down at the Grand Avenue Chalet, mountain biking is in full gear.
Working with COGGS and the City Of Duluth, Spirit opened three new trails for thrill junkies of various skill levels.
Staff says it’s great to see the hills alive with bikers again.
“It’s like the Northland, people love to kick the summer off in Northern Minnesota,” said Jon Regenold, Co-Director of Resort Services. “So we got a good crew of people to stop out to come biking.”
“We’re really expecting them to come out and get their fix of downhill biking at Spirit Mountain, so we’re expecting good times this weekend for sure,” he said.
Mountain biking at Grand Avenue will be available weekends currently and will be expanding to more days this summer.
Also next month, Regenold said the Riverside Bar and Grill will reopen Wednesdays through Sundays.
