Light Art Projections in Lincoln Park This Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. – The Lincoln Park Business District will have a new public art display starting February 10.

Four drawings from three artists will be projected by light onto the sides of the Duluth Children’s Museum and Aerostich buildings.

“Light displays are a way to have the awestruck moment of a mural that is not permanent,” says Noah Hobbs, member of the Duluth Public Arts Commission, “so there is a way to have more artists participate, and also have it be more mobile so we can choose different locations without the financial commitments from DPAC.”

This type of art style had its first go around last year during the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival, and there is hope to make it an annual event.

“We’re hoping to have this festival of lights sort of an event every February,” says Hobbs, “so that there is another reason to get out and get down and enjoy our business districts also.”

The displays are part of Winter Bike Week in Duluth.  They will run from 6 to 10:30 p.m. each day through Valentine’s Day.
