Bent Paddle hosts ‘Freshwater’ Pre-Party
DULUTH, Minn.- A new documentary focused on Lake Superior and its waters is set to premier next week, but the crew celebrated the film at pre-party on Friday.
515 Productions held a pre-party at Bent Paddle ahead of next week’s premier of Freshwater. Surfers, scientists, and Duluth business owners gathered around to catch a glimpse of the film for the first time.
“Freshwater” focuses on Lake Superior and the impact the lake has has on Duluth’s economy, as well as the research being done at University of Minnesota-Duluth that can help protect it in the future.
Bent Paddle, a business that is reliant on Lake Superior’s water to craft their beer took a special interest in this project.
“We’ve been so blown away by the interest and enthusiasm for this project. We were not anticipating the overwhelming interest that we’re getting. So, I think the lake has made it easy for us to tell this story and it’s grown interest very organically because it’s such a beautiful place and people have such a deep connection to it,” Freshwater Co-Director, Lynn Melling says.
Freshwater premiers February 19th at NorShor Theatre, with all proceeds going to Large Lakes Observatory. After the premier, 515 Productions plans to submit Freshwater into some film festivals.
