Sunflowers for Ukraine: Local Flower Shop Hosts Fundraiser

The sunflower represents Ukraine's national flower.

DULUTH, Minn.– A local flower shop is raising money to support the people of Ukraine, through the sale of sunflowers.

Engwall Flowers is currently selling stems and bouquets featuring the countries national flower. All proceeds will be donated to the Ukraine Red Cross.

Amongst all the tragedy that has happened there, one story in particular hit home for the flower shop.

“Sadly, a flower company had been destroyed there and it made us think, what if it was us here?” said customer service representative Dawn Connell, “We just wanted to reach out and help in anyway we could. Since, that’s their national symbol it becomes sort of a symbol for unity for Ukraine.”

The fundraiser will continue through the month of April. Each sunflower us five dollars per stem.
