ITASCA COUNTY, Minn. — A woman from Deer River has pleaded guilty to Second Degree Intentional Murder and First Degree Arson.

42-year-old Crystal Marie Wilson is accused of stabbing a man to death in Ball Clun, Minnesota back in July.

According to the criminal complaint, Wilson told investigations that she had been doing meth and drinking alcohol that day. She then went to a man’s camper and recalled that both of them may have done meth together.

While she was there, Wilson started believing that the man was going to attack her, so she stabbed him multiple times with a pair of scissors, and also punched and kicked him.

She then passed out and when she woke up, she saw that the man was dead.

Wilson then set the camper on fire from the inside and left, believing she was “burning a witch.” Itasca County prosecutors say Wilson could face more than 37 years in prison.

The court is ordering a pre-sentencing investigation after Wilson’s attorney argued for a reduced sentence.

Wilson will be sentenced on January 20 at 1:30 p.m.
