Hermantown Native Aaron Pionk Flips Commitment from Minnesota State to UMD

He'll be the 5th player from Hermantown on UMD's roster, joining Zam Plante, Joey Pierce, Blake Biondi, and Darian Gotz.

DULUTH, Minn.- A former hermantown standout has flipped his decision to commit to Minnesota State and will now be suiting up for UMD next fall.

Aaron Pionk announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

It’s a family affair as his brother Neal played for UMD from 2015 to 2017.

Pionk most recently suited up for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL. In 60 games this season, he tallied 12 goals and 26 assists.

Pionk is set to join a roster that includes plenty of former Hermantown Hawks.

He’ll be the 5th player from Hermantown joining Zam Plante, Joey Pierce, Blake Biondi, and Darian Gotz.
