St. Paul Man Charged In Deer River Murder
DEER RIVER, Minn. — A St. Paul man is charged with murder after a man was found dead in a Deer River home earlier this month.
Nigel Blackburn, 33, is charged with second-degree intentional murder.
Court documents say he shot the unidentified victim at least five times in the head and body.
The crime happened June 9 in a home on the 500 block of 4th Street SE in Deer River.
The female homeowner told authorities the victim and suspect had a “romantic interest” in her, according to the complaint.
Court documents say Blackburn shot the victim multiple times during an argument over the victim sleeping on the couch with the woman.
The woman told authorities Blackburn suggested ways to “cover up the murder.”
The complaint says the body remained in the house for several days until authorities located the woman who then provided the details of the crime.
Blackburn was eventually arrested.
He’s back in court July 12th.
