New Grant Program Focuses On A Stronger Community

DULUTH, Minn. — A stronger community is something we can all get behind.

To help make that happen, the kickoff for a major grant program was announced Monday. It came from the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. The Community Opportunity Fund focuses on three key areas- opportunity, resilience, and belonging.

President Shaun Floerke says the goal is to create solutions with more impact throughout the Northland.

“What I think about is changing community. So, little girls and boys to and it sounds kind of farfetched where they can be all they want to be. Where the barriers that we erect and maintain are in the way are fading and slipping away. There’s a guy I follow a lot he talks about we want to make for healthy people but to raise healthy people you need a healthy community,” said Floerke.

Charitable organizations can receive grants of up to $100,000 dollars a year, for up to 5 years. The deadline to apply is December 22. More information can be found here.
