Worker Trapped When Downtown Duluth Sidewalk Collapses

DULUTH, Minn. — An incident shortly before noon in downtown Duluth saw part of a sidewalk cave in and a worker become trapped against a building.

A telescoping boom was being used by a window washer on West 1st Street’s sidewalk near Roscoe’s Bar.

An extension of the building’s basement under the sidewalk gave way and two of the boom’s four tires partially fell, trapping the worker to the side of the building.

Firefighters used air-lift bags to move the basket and free the worker who was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
