YWCA Hosts First Gender Equity Summit
DULUTH, Minn. — Community members gathered at the Depot Thursday to talk about how we can have a gender inclusive and equitable Duluth.
It is the first Gender Equity Summit hosted by the YWCA Duluth.
The event centers around women, people who identify as transgender, and people of color. It is all to create connections, learn leadership skills, and work together to make social change.
The summit included speakers, workshops, an art show, and music.
“One of the things we really hope people take away from today is that you have a voice, that every single person can be a leader. And that the vision and the values that you have are something you can make a reality,” said Beth Burt, executive director of YWCA Duluth.
The YWCA says they will be hosting the event again next year. To support the organization, check out their website.
