Results of Duluth School Board Member and Referendum Voting
DULUTH, Minn. –Elections on Tuesday also included voting for three Duluth School Board seats as well as two referendum questions.
The first question asked to refinance existing debt and make $2.6 million dollars available that could be used to augment the services that were added using pandemic money. That question passed with nearly 55% of the votes.
The second question asked for dedicated funds for technology needs. In a very close decision on the second question, the No votes edged out yes votes by less than one percent.
Superintendent John Magas said, “The speed at which we’re able to update and replace some of the things we were hoping to do with cyber security. But we also recognize that we need these things. Trying to reflect and re-organize to see what are the most basic needs and maybe considering going back for a second bite at some point. Might be something that we’re considering, but we really need a chance to re- group and see what the impact was.”
In the voting for school board members the three winners were Stephanie who beat the incumbent Alanna Oswald for the At-Large seat, In District 2 Sarah Mikesell was unopposed and in District 3, Henry Banks beat Loren Martell.
