Benedictine Living Community Hosts Veterans Day Memorial Service

DULUTH, Minn. — On Wednesday a special Veterans Day Service was held at Benedictine Living Community in Duluth.

The service is held each year honoring those who have worked to protect and defend our country. The event recognized resident and staff member veterans with a program including plenty of songs and a flag folding ceremony. And this year there is a record number of 56 veterans staying at the facility.

“So, we do this because it is the right thing to do but what we find is as we talk with our veterans, the memories that they have whether they’ve served overseas, whether they’ve served locally. The friends that they made, the families that they left behind, the families that they came back to. And the jobs that they left behind and the schooling that they left behind and came back to,” said Merry Wallin, foundation/marketing director for Benedictine Living Community.

Benedictine Living Community has been doing the Veterans Day Service for 10 years now. The event ended with a nice luncheon for all to enjoy.
