Red Kettle Queen Kicks Off Giving Season
DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Salvation Army is kicking off their Red Kettle giving season with a new twist.
Starting November 30th director of development, Cyndi Lewis, will be out bell ringing as the Red Kettle Queen. She will do four visits and during those she will crown one lucky person Red Kettle Royalty.
And at the end of the Kettle season for those that post pictures to social media using hashtag #RedKettleQueen and tag Duluth SA the post with the most likes will win the queen’s tiara.
She says it is a great way to teach kids about giving back.
“You know every little girl dreams of growing up to be a princess, right? Well, I have too much gray hair for that. So, I grow up into be the queen, it’s like amazing, it’s like a little girls dream right? You know and I always tell little kids when you get older, when you’re an adult you can play dress up every day and really you can, and you can do good things with it too,” Lewis.
The Red Kettle season officially starts Saturday, and they are still in need of volunteers. There are also Christmas assistance sign ups happening right now as well. Go to the Duluth Salvation Army’s website for more information.
