“Shear” Delights Found at AA Alpaca Farm

WRENSHALL, Minn. — Forget the sheep’s wool, a local Alpaca farm opened a shop selling some homemade goods.

AA Alpaca Farm and Store sells hats, gloves, socks, and sweaters which are all made from Alpaca fibers. Every May they shear their own Alpacas to fill up the shop on their property.

“We’ve been working on this for quite a few years. The building got up, what, two years ago? We started slowly adding and adding,” said co-owner of AA Alpaca Farm. “It’s a long process when you’re doing things yourself, like a lot of the hats I’ve made out of Alpaca. But other things I get from Peru.” 19

AA Alpaca Farm is open by appointment on the weekdays. Supplying steady weekend hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Owner Laurie Kelner shared with us she’s looking forward to retirement, as she plans to host classes on spool spinning and weaving with Alpaca fibers.
