Duluth Woman Charged After ‘Severely Malnourished’ Dog Dies
DULUTH, Minn. — A Duluth woman has been charged in the death of a pit bull that Animal Allies said was the worst case of animal abuse they’ve ever seen.
Rainna Korby, 24, is charged with one felony count of animal torture.
The criminal complaint says Korby knew of the dog’s deteriorating condition but did nothing about it.
The complaint goes on to say Korby had a friend take the dog, who was alive at the time, to Animal Allies in Duluth to say the dog was found in a ditch.
Animal Allies reported the dog was unable to walk, severely malnourished with open wounds, and covered in urine and feces.
The dog, dubbed Lovebug, was in a kennel too small for its body, with no food or water, according to the complaint.
Despite efforts from Animal Allies to nurse Lovebug back to good health, he died.
Korby could face up to two years in prison if convicted and/or a $5,000 fine.
Korby was out on bail Wednesday.
