Superior Boys Hoops Equipped with Veteran Depth Heading Into Season
Superior's first game is a week from Friday at D.C. Everest.
SUPERIOR, Wis.- The Superior Spartan boys basketball team returned to the court this week for their first couple of practices of the season.
There’s been plenty of excitement surrounding the squad after they made it to their first sectional title game since 2016 last year.
The Spartans also return their top two scorers in Tresean Sanigar and Calvin Anderson, who each averaged double figures.
Even more of a bonus, they have more key pieces around them that have seen time as freshman and sophomores.
Sanigar says that helps but he also likes how many scorers and defenders there are on the team.
“I feel like our offense is good and so is our zone defense. Not many teams play in zone. So we can use that as a strength later in playoffs. Teams in wisconsin don’t go out in zone, so our zone is a big help for us,” said Sanigar.
As for Anderson, he says what the team does off the court is a key factor in their success on the court.
“Definitely bonding like a lot. Team bonding is really nice but we’re really working on our conditioning this year too. I’m just excited because I want to get back to right where we were. We have shooters all around the board so it will be fun,” added Anderson.
