Washburn County Man Arrested at Jail For Impaired Driving

SHELL LAKE, Wis. — A Washburn County man was arrested after driving to the Washburn County Sheriff’s Department Jail impaired with a 6-year-old in their vehicle.

On Saturday at approximately 6:56 p.m., the Washburn County Sheriff Department Jail Staff advised that Anthony Koprowski of Spooner, Wis., was to pick up an intoxicated individual who was arrested earlier that evening.

Upon arrival, the jail staff reported that Koprowski appeared to be impaired.

A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper responded to the incident, confirming that Koprowski was under the influence though a standardized field sobriety test.

Koprowski was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance- 1st offense with a minor passenger in the vehicle under the age of 16.

The 6-year-old passenger was turned over to a sober family member.
