Multi-Faith Gathering’s Message Against Representative Stauber’s Vote To Aid Israel

HERMANTOWN, Minn. — Community members from varying backgrounds placed rocks down in mourning at representatives Pete Stauber’s office door, calling for an end to violence in Israel.

As the conflict in Israel only divides Muslims and Jewish communities further in the Middle East, a much different story is being told here in the Northland.

Sunday afternoon, a local group of Jewish people, who consider themselves anti-Zionists and critical to how the Israeli government has responded to last month’s attack by Hamas, brought together fellow Muslims, Christians, and others to call for the end of violence in the Gaza Strip.

Together, all stood to denounce representative Pete Stauber’s vote to send $14.3 billion dollars in aid to Israel.

Their message to show a direct consequence to what Stauber’s vote supported.

“Today we put down tzror both to honor Palestinians lives and Israeli lives. Israeli lives that we lost in the October 7 Hamas attack and then the thousands of Palestinians lives that were lost since,” said Jamey Sharp, the organizer.

Tzror means pebble in Hebrew. As part of Jewish tradition, tzror’s are placed on the graves to show that their lives are still cared for and remembered.
