Chum Giving Away Thanksgiving Boxes To Those In Need
DULUTH, Minn. — This week, Chum is making sure the community is able to have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Thanks to the community’s help, Chum is giving away 350 Thanksgiving boxes in total this year. And Monday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Duluth, was the first day of giving away 100 boxes.
The boxes are a first-come, first-serve basis with no sign-ups needed. Included in every box is everything you need for the holiday with turkey, stuffing, fresh potatoes, mac and cheese, pumpkin pie, and more.
“The Thanksgiving foods are down in cost, but for most people that are in line today you know the other things in life are up. So, their spending that extra money that they would’ve spent for Thanksgiving on things like you know gas, or medical expenses, or credit card bills or things like that. So, to be able to do this just really helps us feel good about meeting people where they need to be met,” said Scott Van Deale, Director of Distributive Services at Chum.
More Thanksgiving boxes will be given away on Wednesday at the Chum Food Shelf on North 1st Avenue West starting at 10 a.m.
