Grand Rapids Open Renovated Arena With Win Over Bluejackets

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn.- In their first game inside the newly renovated Yanmar Arena, the Grand Rapids boys hockey team defeated the Hibbing/Chisholm Bluejackets 5-2 Wednesday night.
The Thunderhawks had an offensive explosion in the first period, scoring three goals. In total, Nathan Garski scored two goals while William Shoerman, Dominic Broberg and Bauer Murphy recorded one goal each. Tate Swanson scored both of the Bluejackets’ goals while Jace Kampsula finished with a pair of assists.
Grand Rapids will now prepare for their first road game of the season on Tuesday, November 28 against Duluth East. Hibbing/Chisholm will take on Two Rivers on Friday and Northfield on Saturday as part of the TRIA Turkey Day Classic in St. Paul.
