Truckers For Tots Makes Big Delivery In Time For Christmas
DULUTH, Minn. — Christmas came early at the Duluth Salvation Army as Truckers for Tots made a big delivery.
For 15 years Mid-State Truck Service, a family-owned company has joined in on the fun of donating toys. The truck service as well as other organizations donate money, so they are able to go out and buy toys from places such as Fleet Farm.
The Salvation Army says the partnership is a huge help this time of year.
“We might be contributing to the Christmas of our friends, or our neighbors and not even realize it. And what better way to celebrate the little ones in our community than be able to help mom and dad provide them with a gift on Christmas morning,” said Elysia Nordan, Captain at the Duluth Salvation Army.
The Mid-State operations manager says this has been a tradition for his crew that originally began in Wisconsin.
“We don’t want to just work in the community and work for the community. We want to be part of the community,” said Mike Cooper, operations manager for Mid-State Truck Service. “I got to be honest my work family, our team at Mid-State Truck Service loves to do this. They definitely encourage me to keep going harder every year for it.”
The Duluth Salvation Army is still in need of toys for teens. They are also more than $8,000 short from where they were last year for their Red Kettle Season goal.
