2024 Duluth Lawn And Sport ALS Circle Tour Raising Awareness

DULUTH, Minn. — In 1999 a group of 4 men went on a snowmobile ride fundraising for those fighting ALS. Now, a new group is recreating that original ride.

A year after that snowmobile fundraiser, a group of people got together to form what is now the Black Woods Blizzard Tour. To celebrate 25 years of raising awareness and funds for Lou Gehrig’s Disease, the 2024 Duluth Lawn and Sport ALS Circle Tour will be taking place.

A group of 6 will be departing Duluth January 31st, going counterclockwise around Lake Superior and ending February 7th at the Black Bear Casino. They will then depart for the Blizzard Tour the next day totaling 2,200 miles in 10 days.

“People come up to us and they say thank you, you know really it’s a thank you to them cause they’re the ones that are really helping out. Cause we can put the stuff together but without people that come to us and say, ‘hey we want to buy a calendar, we want to give you money’ or a company that comes on board right and says, ‘hey we want to help out.’ Without them we wouldn’t be successful, we wouldn’t be able to help people with ALS,” said Chad Bannor, snowmobile rider.
