Be A Santa To A Senior A Success In The Twin Ports
DULUTH, Minn. — A local organization is making sure seniors are not forgotten this holiday season.
Home Instead is a supportive services home care provider for senior citizens. Every year they gather specialized requests from different facilities around Duluth and Superior to make the holidays a little brighter for seniors.
It’s called Be a Santa to a Senior.
Those requests can be found as tags on trees located at any Menards around the Twin Ports. Gifts range from clothing, food items, and cleaning supplies. And when we stopped by the West Duluth Menards earlier this week, the tree had no tags left.
“It’s just been a terrific response and I can’t really again thank the public enough for their generosity,” said Mary Andrews, franchise owner for Home Instead Duluth.
Trees will then be replenished with more tags. The general manager at Menards says he has seen a lot more generosity around the store this season.
“This year really has just been great just as a whole. You know we’re seeing a lot more Christmas sell through, people are kind of getting back into the Christmas spirit. Seems like helping each other out quite a bit,” said Kevin Green, general manager at Menards West Duluth.
Presents can be left at the drop box by the cashiers on the way out of Menards. The goal is to help one-thousand seniors this year.
