HIBBING, Minn. – Family and friends on the Iron Range are in mourning after a young man was killed over the weekend in a head-on crash.
Levi Greenwood, 20, of Hibbing graduated last year from East Range Academy of Technology and Science.
The Minnesota State Patrol said the accident happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
They said Greenwood was traveling north on Highway 169 in Calumet when his vehicle went into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a semi-truck.
Greenwood died at the scene. The 51-year-old truck driver suffered non-life threating injuries.
The roads were wet at the time, according to the State Patrol. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with Greenwood’s funeral costs.
A statement on the GoFundMe page said Levi “brought love, joy, laughter, even tears. He was someone you could rely on when you needed a friend, a laugh, a hug, kindness, even a big smile to the table. Everyone wishes you didn’t have to go so soon. You are loved by so many and will forever hold a special place in everyone hearts.”
