There’s Still Time To Donate To Make Every Child Smile Toy Drive

The distribution event is happening December 17.

DULUTH, Minn. — A community event is making sure every kid gets a Christmas present this year.

The Make Every Child Smile toy drive is an opportunity to be the ultimate Secret Santa by getting gifts so infants through teens have something to unwrap over the holidays.

This year a woman donated hundreds of beanie babies to give to the police department. That way officers can keep a few in their squad cars to hand out to kids as they go out on domestic calls or even just seeing them playing outside.

They are hoping to give over 400 gifts away. Organizer, Mike Letica says this year has been great so far with the Northland’s support.

“It’s great to be in this community because I don’t know how many communities of this size would actually consider you know donating to this is like a grassroots type thing it’s not organized by any company or whatever. It’s just me and the community. All I do is organize and the community makes it happen. So, it’s really cool to be able to know that I can throw something like this, or a different event and I know it’ll work because I know the community will be behind whatever we do,” said toy drive organizer, Mike Letica.

There is still time to donate. You can bring cash or toys to the Mike Letica Farmers Insurance Agency. The big distribution day is Sunday, December 17 at the juice shop, Shake It on 5801 Grand Avenue in Duluth from noon to 2pm. Everyone is welcome.
