Forest Service Denies Lutsen’s Plan to Expand

LUTSEN TOWNSHIP, Minn- The Forest Service has issued its final decision on Lutsen’s request to expand its ski area by an additional 495 acres.

The Forest Service selected the “No Action Alternative” and will not be approving Lutsen’s permit application.

The Forest Service said that its decision was based on several factors. Among them are impacts on tribal resources, potential effects on natural and cultural resources, and negative impacts on the Superior Hiking Trail and its users.
