Duluth Salvation Army Christmas Distribution Helps Families In Need
DULUTH, Minn. — Families across the Northland are receiving gifts, toys and food assistance just in time for the holidays.
Volunteers came together with Salvation Army staff and met the children and families they have been serving all year. Over 680 families will choose donated items, smorgasbord style.
“They start in the Chapel, they get socks from the Casino, then they get mittens. They come through here and get to stop at the stuffed…everybody gets a stuffed animal. They go on to the board games. Every family gets a board game and then every child gets four toys,” said Cyndi Lewis, distribution director.
Cyndi Lewis with the Salvation Army, says participants are very emotional when they receive gifts for their kids, and food to help get through another day. All are grateful for the helping hand, and often give back in the same way the following year by serving others. Distribution Days continues through Wednesday.
