Thousands Attend Winter Solstice Luminary Hike
Duluth Parks & Recreation Hosts Event on the Longest Night of the Year
DULUTH, Minn. — Thousands came out tonight to celebrate the Winter Solstice. Duluth Parks and Recreation hosted their third annual Solstice Luminary Hike. Everyone was invited to walk the candle-lit half mile loop at Enger Park Golf Course. Plus, with the milder weather, people of all ages and abilities were able to enjoy said Duluth Recreation Specialist Megan Lidd.
“We love doing an event where so many different types of people can come and enjoy,” Lidd said. “This one is really unique in that we don’t have snow and so we have the hard surface trails so people with limited mobility can come join us tonight. It’s been really great to bring people together to enjoy our park spaces.”
People welcomed winter by sipping on hot chocolate, warming up by the fire, and taking photos in an illuminated frame.
