Chachos Taqueria Celebrating New Hot Sauce, And Expansion

DULUTH, Minn. — A local restaurant is spicing things up for the holidays with a brand-new hot sauce.

Although Chachos Taqueria in Canal Park is closed for the season, they are excited to say their new Bandito Sauce is available for the community to try. The sauce is made by roasting vegetables, peppers and habaneros and then soaking golden raisins in apple cider vinegar and agave and blending it all up.

Owners call it a Minnesota 7 on a scale as it is sweet and spicy, but makes you want to have more. They say it doesn’t just have to be on a taco… it can be put on eggs, pizza, Bloody Mary’s or whatever you like. It is a proud moment for them to be selling this hot sauce.

“It’s a creative outlook. And for people to enjoy your food is one of the coolest things to witness. And honestly at the end of the game like that’s what we do for a living is to make people happy with our food and our products,” said Alex Giuliani, co-owner of Chachos Taqueria.

And some more exciting news for the restaurant. They will now offer indoor dining. Customers will still order at the window then go take a seat next door. They can seat about 34 people in the new space which will help extend them to be open year-round.

“This is gonna be a really big move. I feel like we’re growing really fast in a good way. We’re doing stuff you know maybe 5 years out and are year 2 so, we’re moving and grooving,” said Giuliani.

Chachos Taqueria will reopen end of February or early March. In the meantime, you can pick up The Bandito Sauce for $6 a bottle at Whole Foods, Super One, Goat Hill Marketplace, and other local shops and restaurants.
